Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune
A trip to the Château of Savigny-Lès-Beaune is always a memorable one and is normally included along with a visit to the nearby world famous wine town of Beaune.
A classic château structure complete with moat and surrounded by top quality vineyards it is also home to an amazing collection of collections. (The only way to describe what is on display there – visit and you will see why we describe it like this !!)
The owner is a famous former professional French racing driver who has indulged his passion for all things mechanical and fast by collecting and displaying the most incredible array of Abarth racing cars (30), motorbikes (250) and even decommissioned military fighter jets (90) from around the world. If that wasn’t enough there are literally thousands of models of cars, motorbikes and planes to be discovered too.
Set amongst the vines and using the main château building and its complex of outbuildings as the display space, the collections are very accessible and form the basis of a treasure hunt to encourage pupils to explore this amazing site.
