At Maison
Claire Fontaine we are equipped to offer a range of sporting activities
which provide students and teachers with the opportunity to discover this
region of Burgundy from a different view point. We also incorporate French
language studies into all the activities, although all safety points are
given in English.
Mountain biking
We have a variety of routes to suit all levels
of ability. Once the safety points have been discussed the activity begins
by naming parts of the bike in French and revising or introducing French
directions. Two experienced and qualified instructors lead a group of
no more than 12 students. We stop off for goûter, to refuel for the return
ride home.
Kayaking
Kayaking takes place on the shallow and calm waters of the River Cure.
The river is classed in category one, which means it is extremely safe
and appropriate for children. Qualified, energetic and experienced instructors
from the fédération française de canoë-kayak lead our students. All instructions
are given in English and safety equipment is provided. This is the only
activity, which comes with a cost of £8.00.
Treasure hunt
Our treasure hunt takes place in the village of Méluzien. Students are
given a map, a series of clues, and a French/English dictionary and, after
a briefing outlining of the rules, the hunt commences. There are different
levels to suit a range of abilities.
Archery
Concentration, accuracy, peace and calm are on the menu. The centre provides
all the equipment for this activity.
Swimming
We use the local leisure centre for those who would like a swim. Qualified
instructors ask to see all pupils swim a width before they are allowed
into the main pool. There is a shallow pool for non-swimmers.
